Maximum Patient Comfort Simultaneous contact cooling using a cold sapphire tip cools the skin during treatment for longer periods of time, further minimizing the risk of superficial burns and resulting in more comfortable treatment for patients.
Ergonomic Design for Ideal Performance A dedicated, compact and ergonomic applicator makes administering treatment comfortable for practitioners and offers maximum visibility of the treatment area. It also features an ideal 3cm2 spot size for fast and precise treatment as well as full coverage without overlap.
Going Beyond IPL- with Alma’s AFTTM Technology OptiClear uses Alma’s proprietary Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT), an advanced form of intense pulsed light technology (IPL). AFT converts unused UV light that is outside the therapeutic range into the optimal spectrum, for maximum efficiency and more effective treatment. Each pulse is delivered with uniform energy (fluence) and controlled peak power, minimizing the risk of adverse effects and ensuring maximum safety.

Alma brings the power of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to your practice with OptiClear- the dedicated light- based solution for the treatment of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). MGD is the leading cause of evaporative dry eye disease (DED) which affects millions of people around the world and can leads to chronic eye discomfort and inflammation.
Standard treatments, such as anti-inflammatory drops, oral antibiotics and warm compresses provide only temporary relief or are entirely ineffective. Mechanical gland expression to remove abnormal meibum is painful and results depend on the capabilities of the physician.
