Product Description

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) can lead to inflammation of the meibomian glands (meibomianitis) and excess oil in the tear film. MGD can exist alone, or it can be associated with Dry Eye, anterior blepharitis or seborrheic dermatitis.

Dry Eye and MGD Treatment Tools consist of a Moist Heat Compress and your choice of Meibomian Paddle, sometimes referred to as a Chalazion Clamps.

Application of a hydrating compress can be an effective way to relieve the pressure. If required, the compress can prepare the glands for expression. In-office expression of the meibomian glands can provide significant relief because the backed-up glands can be painful. To express the meibomian glands, instill topical anesthetic and apply pressure between two cotton-tipped applicators in an upwards-rolling motion (one applicator on either side of the eyelid). These Moist Heat Compresses use patented technology involving MediBeads® which continuously absorb and store water molecules from the air. When microwaved, the clean, natural moist hear penetrates to help unplug the glands. No added water required. Compresses are gently washable and non-allergenic. They can be used in the office or re-sold to the patient for on-going treatment . Disposable pads are also available to maintain hygienic conditions.

A single sided compress with strap is available seperately to treat styes.
