Key Features

Reading Acuity - RA is calculated in logMAR by knowing the distance of the patient from the monitor screen and the size of the letters presented to the patient.
Reading Speed - the sound wave of the patient's voice is used to keep time of the patient as they read the sentence. This is less variable than using a stopwatch.
Reading acuity can be assessed at 3 distances. Near vision is based on 40cm. Computer vision is based on 66cm. Intermediate vision is base on 80cm.
Contrast can be adjusted (Michelson scale) 100%, 75%, 30%, 10%, and 5%
Luminance can be adjusted 100%, 30%, 10%, and 2%
10 languages
Sentences are randomized so a patient cannot become too familiar with them.

Product Description

The Salzburg Reading Desk© (SRD) is a functional testing platform offering researchers and eye care professionals the ability to quickly, easily and economically conduct multiple visual acuity and reading speed and acuity tests on one device while utilizing state of the art data gathering technologies. While simulating a natural reading environment, the SRD calculates distance corrected logMAR and reading speed at various illumination and contrast levels.

The SRD may be helpful in assessing patients with multi-focal or accommodating IOLs, patients with AMD or DR and patients with multi-focal contact lenses.

The SRD has a CE mark. In the USA it is FDA exempt and therefor available to purchase.
